What are some common causes of fatal construction accidents?

From a defective power tool accident to an electrical accident, there are many types of accidents that occur every day on construction sites. Sadly, a construction site accident can be incredibly dangerous and may result in the loss of life. In San Bernardino, California, those who have suffered injuries in a construction accident or are mourning the loss of a loved one who died in a construction accident should explore every option when trying to move forward. From workers' compensation to filing a lawsuit over negligence, people who are struggling because of an accident that occurred on the job must stand up for their rights.

On the Occupational Safety & Health Administration's website, those who would like to learn more about workplace accident statistics will find valuable information. Workers are killed or injured in construction accidents at an alarming rate and it is important to understand what causes these accidents. According to OSHA, one out of every five people who died in a workplace accident in 2013 were construction workers. While there are many causes of fatal construction accidents, OSHA has identified four which account for a majority of construction worker jobsite deaths. These causes, which include falls, being struck by objects, electrocution and being caught-in/between, accounted for 57 percent of fatal construction accidents in 2013. OSHA estimates that 478 lives could be saved in the United States each year if these four causes were eliminated, which highlights the importance of preventing construction accidents.
