There are many types of back injuries

It goes without saying that you never want to suffer any type of injury. Even so, you never know when something bad could happen.

For example, if you work in an labor intensive industry, it’s important to realize that you could suffer an injury at some point.

Back injuries are extremely common, as there are many things that can go wrong with this part of your body. Made up of muscles, bones and other tissues, it only takes one tweak to cause pain or discomfort that could require in-depth treatment.

Some of the most common types of back injuries include:

— Herniated disks

— Sprains and strains

— Fractured vertebrae

— Spinal cord trauma

As you can imagine, some of these injuries are more serious than others. For example, a back strain is not nearly as serious as a fractured vertebrae.

Regardless of your injury, there is one thing you must do: Follow the direction of your medical team.

Treatment options can include but are not always limited to: medication, physical therapy, rest, ice therapy, heat therapy and surgery.

With the help of your doctor, you can decide what treatment option is best and how to track your progress.

Note: Don’t assume that your back injury will heal on its own. Although you may not want to visit with a doctor, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Get enough rest

If you are unable to return to work after suffering an on the job back injury, you need to learn more about your legal rights. This typically means filing a claim for workers’ compensation benefits.

With this money, you don’t have to worry about your finances during your time off. Instead, you can use the funds to get by until you are able to return to work.

In the event of a denial, review your situation in great detail. In some cases, you may be able to provide additional information as a means of receiving compensation in the near future.

In other cases, such as if your employer is stating that you did not suffer the injury at work, you’ll need to take additional steps. This is why you should never hesitate to consult with an experienced workers’ compensation attorney. With professional help, it’s much easier to protect your rights as a worker.
