Professional athletes sue league regarding brain injuries

California sports fans care about their favorite athletes, but some former National Hockey League players are claiming that the league doesn't care enough about their health. Ten former players are pursuing a class-action status lawsuit claiming that the league has not done enough to protect its players from brain injuries. Additionally, the athletes are seeking medical monitoring for their injuries and brain trauma linked to their athletic careers.

3 workers injured at California car plant

Three workers were hospitalized after they were burned at the Tesla factory in northern California last week. Workplace accidents can happen anywhere at any time, and it is important for workers to be vigilant about their own safety in addition to the safety regulations of their workplace. Initially, the accident was reported as a fire, but the fire department confirmed that there was no fire or explosion. The Tesla Motors spokeswoman claimed that the workers were injured following a failure of an aluminum press, and they were injured by hot metal from that equipment.

Longboarders at increased risk of brain injuries

Californian longboarders may want to take a minute to consider the risks they take while on their boards. Skateboarding and longboarding have long been associated with our state of California, but a recent study in Utah has revealed that longboarders may have a greater risk ofbrain injury than regular skateboarders. The data, from a Utah trauma center, studied 824 people with an average age of 19 who underwent treatment for injuries from both longboarding and skateboarding from 2006 to 2011. More than half of those included in the data, 57.5 percent, were longboarding at the time of their accident.

Multi-million dollar settlement in California birth injury suit

A California medical malpractice case was settled this past week for $7.5 million. It was reported that a child suffered brain injury from oxygen deprivation while being delivered after the mother experienced a ruptured uterus.
